THE WATER’S EDGE

The Weekly Wardrobe: June 8-19, 2026

Happy Sunday, everyone, and happy Father’s Day to you fellow dads out there. I hope you’re enjoying the day! 😊

It’s been a couple of weeks since my last post, but I’m perfectly okay with that. I’m learning to embrace that I am not feeling obligated to post content on a regular basis. Sometimes the inspiration will strike, and sometimes it won’t—that’s perfectly okay. That’s life, right? It’s rarely constant and reliable.

Relating to my blog, I think I may have finally figured out what was causing my site to constantly go down. After moving things to a third instance and noticing the site exhibiting the same instability, I started to look at what had changed between my original iteration, and my current one. Only one thing was different: caching. Once I disabled caching, the site has been pretty rock solid since, and is no longer going down every day. Who would have thought, something that was designed to help my site be more reliable was, in actuality, causing it to be less reliable. Hopefully I didn’t just jinx myself there… 🤞🏼

I was also playing around with exploring different themes for my blog. There are tons of themes out there for bloggers, most of which showcase around highlighting photos from each post. I quickly discovered that these themes did not look good for my blog, because of one thing:

I was using the exact same image as my featured image every week, so it made each theme look like a sea of sameness. Because of this, I’m going to challenge myself to try and tap into some creativity, by using other pictures I have, and to take more pictures during the week of something other than my outfits. I’ve never really considered myself to be very creative—especially around photography—so this will be quite the challenge. I’m starting with this post here using a picture I took a few years ago when visiting Las Vegas. This particular picture is about as creative as I get, so the pressure is on!

The Exposed Shore

Thinking back to the cybersecurity conference I attended just shy of two weeks ago (!!), I can confidently say that it was the best one I attended, and I have been in attendance for five years now. What did I love most about it? There were a lot more sessions around the human side of cybersecurity. There were still quite a bit around the technical side, but I’m really glad that the founders are expanding and embracing the fact that there are many facets to cybersecurity, not just the highly technical, such as pen testing, hacking, or programming.

It was also great to reconnect with others who I had met from years past. Even though it’s still difficult for me to put myself out there and make new connections, I’m very grateful that the people I do know have no qualms about introducing me around to others. 😂

It may not be the ideal method to network, but I’ll happily take what I can get. 😜

Finally, here’s a look back at what I wore to work the past couple of weeks. I hope you enjoy them. Enjoy the rest of your week, and have a great week ahead!

It would be nice if the photos were color.

Thanks for that! I had used the wrong block to display the photo collections, so I’ve fixed them. Oops! 🙃

Update: well, it seems that particular block isn’t working properly, and still not showing the pictures, so I’ll have to play around some more. I’m on it!

Update update: Flickr just doesn’t want to play nicely for some reason, so I’ve used my Pixelfed feed instead. Now things look better. 😊
